Wells GC played Long Sutton GC recently in the second round of the Somerset Rose Bowl.
Wells were fortunate to have a home draw against what was a very strong Long Sutton team.
The weather was perfect and the scene set fair for an exciting contest, albeit late on a Friday.
Toby Cole and Danny Wyroll got the home side off to a good start winning a very close match on the 18th 1 up.
Peter Cherry and Ian Burr suffered and succumbed 3&2 in the second match.
Darren Barnett and Duncan Bratt tried hard to squander the 6 shots they were receiving but eventually squeaked home with a good putt on 18 to also win 1 up.
Bill McCollum and Simon Jackson played very steadily to record a win 2 up.
Mike Metcalfe and Glen Crocker overcame their huge hitting opponents by use of good short games , as usual, ably assisted by the 10 shots they were getting.
They ran out winners 3&2 and Wells completed a very satisfying win 4-1 with home advantage definitely an important factor.
The next opponents are Bath, at Bath.
