Seniors' Somerset Bowl

Wells GC Seniors V Clevedon in the Somerset Seniors` Bowl.

The match was played at Clevedon on a warm and pleasant day with some wind and a very dry golf course.

• First out Nick Poore and Phil Spring struggled and lost 4&3.
• Second out Colin Mantle and Nigel Pring , making a welcome return to team golf after a very long break, played very well together recording a 3&2 win.
• Simon Jackson and Duncan Gowan continued their new partnership combining well to achieve a comfortable 2&1 victory.
• Glen Crocker and Mike Metcalfe were unable to deliver their usual high standards and were putted off the course by an 18 handicapper in a 5&4 defeat.
• This left Jim Lunt and Bill McCollum out on the course with the score 2-2. They dug deep and finally secured a win 1 up on the last.

Thus Wells GC Seniors` team won the match 3-2 on a very difficult course against excellent opponents.
They now play Cannington GC in the quarter final at Wells.
