Seniors Avalon League Results 2025
This year the Seniors Avalon matches have all happened in July ,August and our final match was 3rd September.
Our first match was on the 2nd July at Tall Pines It was not a great start we lost 3 matches to 1 match , The final match was halved (abandoned after 4 holes as Bill McCollum had to be taken to hospital hit on the arm by a golf ball, he has now recovered). The only win was by the late John Hockey playing with Ian Nicol.
Next we played on 15th July at Home against Long Sutton, we won 3 matches to 2 (for a home match an average result).
On the 25th July we lost at Cannington 2 matches to 3, a good result on difficult away venue.
On the 30th July we had a good result at Wells against Tall Pines a win 4 matches to 1 making up for the earlier away loss to Tall Pines.
We then played a home match against Oake Manor on 8th August we won that 4 matches to 1 a good result as Oake were top of the Division 3.
Then to Long Sutton on 12 August to get our best result so far this year, a win 3 matches to 1 and a match halved , great away result.
Next match was a home match on 22nd August against Cannington which was another good result ,we won 4 matches to 1.
Before our last match we could see that we were 2nd in the division 1.5 points behind Oake Manor, our last match was at Oake Manor to decide who would win the division. As away matches are harder to win but wins provide extra points we knew that a halved match would result in us winning the league. On the day after 4 matches the score was 2 wins each all was on the last match. Amazing it was a halved match we won the division by 1 point with 69.5 points.
Congratulations to all players involved. A deserved special mention to Stuart Austwick and John Hockey who won all of the matches they played.
The last event of the season will be finals day on the 23rd September ,which the first 2 teams in each division will be playing.
